AfricaEnergyParks Kick-Off Meeting

On June 27-28, 2024, the kick-off meeting of the AfricaEnergyParks project took place, marking the online launch of this initiative funded by the European Commission. The virtual meeting was hosted by Aarhus University, our project coordinator, and included our 11 dedicated partners: Ener-G-Africa, DENG Limited, MASH Makes, Africa GreenTec, Ghana Forestry Commission, Partners in Participatory Development (PAPADEV), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Danish Technological Institute, INOVA+, Ministry of Energy of Ghana, and Hormeku-Massis Enterprise.

The first day of the meeting featured presentations from all partners, where each organization shared their expertise and insights into their contributions to the project. On the second day, we were honoured to have the EU Project Officer join us. The consortium detailed each partner’s role and involvement in the various work packages, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of our collaborative efforts. The meeting was a resounding success, setting a positive tone for the project’s future.

Over the next four years, we will be establishing a Renewable Energy Park near Mole National Park in Ghana. This innovative project aims to harness solar energy and convert agricultural waste into sustainable energy, introduce clean cookstoves for healthier cooking, protect wildlife, and combat deforestation. Additionally, we seek to create a scalable model for other regions.

Join us on this journey towards sustainable development and climate resilience in Africa!
