New WEFE Cluster: Advancing Clean Energy Solutions for Africa
On December 12, 2024, the official launch of a new cluster initiative marked the beginning of an important collaboration aimed at advancing clean energy technologies for off-grid communities across Africa. This cluster unites eight forward-thinking projects: AfricaEnergyParks, RePower, SUNNY, AGRI-COOL, SWARM-E, LoCEL-H2, REFFECT AFRICA, and OPTiMG.
The initiative is designed to amplify the impact of these R&D projects by fostering innovation, exchanging best practices, and promoting scalable, sustainable energy solutions that support Africa’s transition to renewable energy access.
The cluster has set the following key objectives:
- Engage with a diverse stakeholder community to broaden outreach and impact.
- Maximize synergies between projects through coordinated dissemination activities.
- Collaborate on event representation and organization to enhance visibility.
- Share knowledge and best practices to drive collective progress.
- Strengthen dissemination through joint publications and materials.
- Develop policy recommendations to support impactful renewable energy solutions.
During the first semester, the cluster will be under the governance of AfricaEnergyParks, which will then rotate by all cluster members. The cluster will hold monthly meetings to monitor progress and work toward its shared goals.
Stay connected for updates as this collaborative effort drives change and expands renewable energy access across Africa.
